Wonderful! This game in one word! Wonderful!

The creator of this game really tried to achieve Batman-perfection in this game. This game is perfectly balanced. It's a lot of fun to play, it has good excitement levels, and it has a perfect dose of Joker-humor in it. Man, that dude is awesome!

The story starts after Batman captured Joker again and personally escorts him to Arkham Asylum, Gotham's insane asylum. The Joker wouldn't be the Joker if he didn't have some trick up his sleeve and he soon escapes and intend to use Arkham Asylum as the start of his newest terror upon Gotham City. Remember that most people are in this loony bin because Batman put them there.. So there are plenty of angry foes to fight!
Even the Batman-noobs get a good introduction to all the characters. Even my two favorite characters are in it: Harvey Quinn & Poison Ivy.

Very good and solid gameplay. Very realistic movements. And you have the usual Bat-toys to play with. And you unlock more the further you advance in the game.

The graphics are simply perfect. Arkham Asylum is an awesome place. It has a little comic-based feel to it, but you can also just put it in the newest Batman movie, and it would work perfectly. Also, apparenty 1 guy has spent 5 months or so on create Batman's cape alone. That guy just spend every single day creating every movement of that cape. Now that's dedication! :-)

I typically don't buy video games after superheroes (unless the hero was from a video game franchise, of course) because it just... seems wrong. One time I rented a spider-man game and ended up loathing it, terrible knock off of the second movie with some alternative scenes in it.

Once again, it's just my personal opinion! I guess games have certainly changed and that Batman doesn't have to traverse New York City one building at a time...

And this might seem random, but what ever happened to Robin? I haven't liked any variation of Robin that I've found except for Teen Titans, but that didn't have Batman in it. Just curious, y'know.

Robin moved in with his boyfriend Steel Anus. I'll let you fill in the blanks to what they're doing nowadays...

I think I know the Spider-man game you're referring to, and that one was indeed bad. I kind of agree with you that most comicbook superhero games have been pretty bad so far. I think there were just a few good ones in the past, but certainly not many. But I believe all that is changing. I think the devs of those game put a lot more effort into it and don't make games anymore that just star their superhero and the story can just be another typical one that you've heard many times before... They're a lot more creative and it's showing lately. Look at Wolverine. That story wasn't easy to make because there was a lot to consider. And with this Batman game you get entirely new story with one of the best graphics I've ever seen in a superhero game...
